Lisa Thompson - DIRECTOR

Lisa Thompson became a Hudson Valley resident in 1981. This Brooklyn, N.Y. native is a graduate of Hampton Institute (B.S.), Hampton University (M.A.), and completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies in School Administration at SUNY New Paltz. The retired educator was employed by the City of Poughkeepsie School District for thirty-two years serving as teacher and building/district administrator. During her tenure “Ms. T.” has worked in various capacities with Elementary, Middle, and High school level youth. She worked collaboratively with local colleges, community-based and cultural organizations to enrich the learning experiences of students. She formerly worked at River Haven in Poughkeepsie and volunteered with the Mediation Center of Dutchess County. Her love for children and dedication to them being “alright” often motivates her to volunteer and work in retirement.

Lisa strongly believes in support of community programs. “It’s important to see young people and families thrive outside of the academic setting.” She is a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wappingers Falls where she serves on the Blaze Youth Ministry and Education Ministry. She has volunteered with Jazz in the Valley (TRANSART & Cultural Services) since 2006.
